Scale Methodology
0–50Baik · Good

Low pollution. No activity restrictions for the general public or higher-risk groups.

51–100Sederhana · Moderate

Moderate air quality that usually does not endanger general health. Maintain standard daily precautions.

101–200Tidak Sihat · Unhealthy

May affect higher-risk groups. They should limit outdoor activity; everyone should reduce strenuous outdoor activity.

201–300Sangat Tidak Sihat · Very Unhealthy

High pollution can affect the public and worsen symptoms in higher-risk groups. Avoid strenuous outdoor activity and stay indoors where possible.

301–500Berbahaya · Hazardous

Very high pollution is hazardous to health. Stay indoors where possible, especially if at higher risk, and follow authority instructions.

Higher-risk groups

Children, older adults, pregnant people, people with heart or respiratory conditions, smokers, and outdoor workers may need extra precautions. Seek medical advice if symptoms worsen.

Respirator caution

Malaysia's Ministry of Health notes that an N95 can reduce particle exposure when fitted correctly, but it may increase breathing effort and is not suitable for children or pregnant people. People with chronic heart or lung conditions should seek medical advice if uncomfortable.
